Banff essential winter packing list

Introduction

When you’re travelling , it pays to be prepared. Here are some essential winter items to carry when travelling to Banff in winter.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a must-have item for any trip, but especially when you’re traveling with kids. Not only do sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun, they can also be used to protect your face from wind and snow blindness.

Sunscreen

You should be wearing sunscreen with a high SPF before you go outside. The best way to apply it is by applying liberally and reapplying every 2 hours. Apply sunscreen to your face, ears and neck.

A warm jacket with a hood

  • A warm jacket with a hood
  • Waterproof shell (preferably down or wool)

Hiking boots that can handle cold temperatures

The last thing you want to do is have your boots leak in the middle of a hike. Make sure your hiking boots are waterproof and have good traction, so they can grip on the trail. They should also be warm enough for the conditions.

You’ll also want to make sure that these shoes fit well—not only does it ensure comfort when walking, but it also helps prevent blisters from forming during long hikes. A lot of people opt not to wear socks while they’re wearing their hiking boots because they want their feet as dry as possible so they don’t get chafed by rubbing against each other over time. However this might cause issues if there’s snow covering up some parts of your foot like toes or heels – so keep an eye out for areas where there could be extra moisture present before putting them on!

Winter Accessories

Here are some essential winter accessories that you may want to bring along with you on your trip:

  • Woolen socks, preferably ones made of merino wool. These are great for keeping your feet warm and dry, which can be an issue in Banff during winter months. Your toes will thank you later!
  • Gloves
  • Woolen Cap preferably the ones that cover ears.
  • Neck warmer
  • Snow Trax

Medical Kit

You’ll need a first aid kit, of course. It’s important to have one on hand in case of an emergency .

What kind of first aid kit do we recommend? A good one will include:

  • Medication for allergies and other common ailments (like headaches).
  • Medication for diarrhea, pain relief and insect bites.
  • Bandages/plasters/dressings (for cuts).

Make sure you pack these items in your carry-on.

If you are going to be in a car for a long time, pack snacks. If you’re headed somewhere on foot and it’s hot outside, pack some water. And if you’re going on an airplane trip with kids and need something to keep them busy, we’ve got that covered too.

These are just a few of the things we suggest packing before heading out on the road:

  • Snacks (e.g., dried fruit/Nuts)
  • Water bottles (fill them up at restaurants or gas stations)
  • A book or two that can pass time while waiting for your ride
  • A blanket/sleeping bag if needed

Conclusion

Packing for a trip is never an easy task, especially when you’re trying to keep it as simple as possible.  With these essentials in mind, you should be able to travel lightly.
